Affiliate Disclosure

How we handle product recommendations and commercial relationships. Full transparency, no fine print.

Current status

As of the date on this page, GlycolicAcid.com does not participate in any affiliate programs.

Product links on this site currently lead directly to retailer or manufacturer websites with no affiliate tracking. We do not earn commissions from any product mentioned on this site.

We mention this because many skincare sites that claim to be “independent” earn significant revenue from affiliate links without making this obvious. We want you to know exactly where we stand.

If we add affiliate links in the future

Running an information site costs money - hosting, research tools, expert reviewers. If we add affiliate links in the future, here is exactly how we will handle it:

  • Clear disclosure on every page. Any page containing affiliate links will include a visible disclosure statement near the top of the page, before you encounter any product links. It will not be buried in a footer or hidden behind a tooltip.
  • Individual link identification. Affiliate links will be visually distinguishable from non-affiliate links, so you always know which links may generate a commission.
  • No influence on editorial content. Products will never be recommended, ranked higher, or given favorable coverage because of an affiliate relationship. Our product evaluation criteria are evidence-based and publicly documented.
  • Same recommendations regardless. If a product is the best option based on our criteria, we recommend it whether or not we have an affiliate relationship with the seller. If a product from an affiliate partner does not meet our standards, we do not recommend it.

How products are selected

Whether or not affiliate links are involved, products featured on this site are selected based on the same criteria:

  1. Formulation. Is the glycolic acid concentration appropriate for the intended use? Is the pH within the effective range? Are there unnecessary irritants or fillers?
  2. Clinical support. Is there research supporting the product or its key ingredients at the stated concentrations? We prioritize products with published efficacy data.
  3. Transparency. Does the manufacturer disclose the glycolic acid concentration, pH, and full ingredient list? Products that hide this information are not recommended, regardless of reputation.
  4. Value. Is the price reasonable relative to the formulation quality? We do not assume more expensive products are better.
  5. Availability. Is the product readily available through reputable retailers? We avoid recommending products that are difficult to purchase or have inconsistent supply chains.

These criteria are applied consistently. Sponsorship, affiliate commissions, and free samples do not influence which products appear on this site.

FTC compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). We are committed to compliance with these guidelines and with the FTC's updated guidance on “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

In summary: if there is a material connection between GlycolicAcid.com and a product or brand mentioned on this site - including affiliate commissions, free products, or any other form of compensation - it will be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.

What this means for you

When you read a product recommendation on this site, you can be confident that:

  • The recommendation is based on evidence-based criteria, not commercial relationships
  • Any commercial relationship is disclosed before you encounter product links
  • Clicking an affiliate link, if present, does not increase the price you pay - it simply means a portion of the sale goes to supporting this site
  • You can always find the same products through a direct search if you prefer not to use our links

If you have questions about our commercial relationships, email info@glycolicacid.com.
